I don’t rant too much about Kickstarters unless it’s something that I’m really excited about. And this is one of them.
I absolutely love the Crawling Under a Broken Moon zines for DCC and getting updated versions of something of the stuff as well as some new stuff is just outright awesome. The only negative thing I can think of is that it doesn’t come out at the same time as Mutant Crawl Classics because I am so kitbashing those and already have a plan to start running MCC as soon as I can get my hands on it.
But anyway check the Kickstarter.
OK, so I’ve sort of living under rock the last few days. More like living hunched over my keyboard. When I raise my head and look around there’s this little gem on Kickstarter. World Architect Cards.
These are by Dirk Stanley. You might recognize him from last year’s Dungeon Architect Cards or probably more famously for The Faraway Land RPG. (You can learn more here or check it out on RPGNow.) And if you’re really curious here’s my review of it.
So this Kickstarter does come from someone who has successfully done it before. So put those thoughts aside. But onto this one. A simple tool to help a GM create a world or heck even a hex crawl. It’ll be worth it to throw a couple of bucks that way. But why in the world are listening to me. Go check out the Kickstarter.
I keep telling myself, “No more Kickstarters.” That didn’t last long. But heck this one looks pretty cool and it won’t break the bank. And trust me. My little bank is very fragile right now.
So here’s Black Hack. A light weight, OSR hack. I know that may seem redundant with OSR games in general being pretty light weight but this one looks to take the basic concepts and run with making it even simpler. I’ve been of the philosophy that simple rules not only make play faster but also let the players get more creative. Here’s the creator’s overview on the rules.
Sounds pretty simple right. Well here’s another little preview of the rules for your reading pleasure.
And if you’ve got the time, here’s some actual play.
So after that. Just head on over to Kickstarter and back this little gem. Did I mention inexpensive? Yeah, less than $2 for the PDF. You can’t beat that with a 10 foot pole.
Going to throw out a little love for a couple of Kickstarters this morning.
First, there’s Hubris by Mike “Wrath of Zombie” Evans. Mike’s a wild and crazy guy and it shows in this wild and crazy setting for Dungeon Crawl Classics. Now, this one is a little more near and dear to my heart. I helped play test it and I had the distinction of being the first player character death. So head on over and check this bad boy out. It freaking will rock your socks off!
The other Kickstarter is Alpha Blue by Venger Satanis. IF you’ve been paying attention, I’ve been on a bit of a space opera kick. So Alpha Blue is something I’d add into my tool kit of gonzo space opera weirdness. I’ve picked up a lot of his stuff and it’s damned cool. My favorite so far has been his first, Liberation of the Demon Slayer. Now most of his work is NSFW so you’ve been warned. So check out Alpha Blue a cat house in space.
